Wear it in, Not out

Thoughtful care keeps your favorites looking better, lasting longer, and feeling like you.
Here is a quick guide to caring for your XCVI styles.

Some pieces become your everyday go-tos. But when you care for them the right way, they become the staples of your wardrobe, season after season.

life in motion: sunshine+spills+care
XCVI is built for real life, meaning motion, sunshine, and a few inevitable coffee spills.
Care is what honors that design and keeps your favorites feeling like your favorite year after year.

Our designs come with lasting care in mind

We pre-wash
98%
of what we make before the piece ever ships.*

That’s the reason our pieces fit the same years later as it did the day it arrived. You aren't the one finding out how much it shrinks. By the time you get it, the fabric has already settled into what it's going to be.

*Our sweater knits are the 2% exception, but their construction means they won't shrink much either. You still get that same settled, true-to-size fit.

We make caring for your XCVI styles simple. But, there are a couple of standouts that want something more specific. and it helps to know why. Think of it as a brief rhythm rather than a chore: cold water, low heat, and matching the dry to the fiber.

For the everyday workhorses

For our STRETCH POPLIN, airy COCOON GAUZE, and structural SOFT TWILL, the routine is simple. Machine wash cold with a mild detergent, skip the bleach, and tumble dry low.

(Bonus: washing a little less often doesn't just save water; it keeps your colors rich for the long haul).

The fabrics that want something different

LINEN + INDIGO

These ask for just a touch more consideration. Linen loves to breathe, whether it's tumbling gently on low or catching a breeze on a drying rack. Indigo appreciates the same cool-water treatment, aging gracefully into its own unique character the more you wear it.

EMBROIDERY + SWEATER KNITS

Then, there are the pieces with a story written right into the thread. Embroidery and sweater knits ask for a different kind of patience. Skip the dryer entirely. Let hand-stitched details and textured knits rest on a flat surface or a drying rack, saving them from the heat and the tumble.

A lighter touch for wrinkles

FOR WRINKLES, LEAVE THE HEAVY-HANDED PRESSING BEHIND.

A hand steamer or steam iron with a light touch, keeping heat matched precisely to the fabric, lets the garment settle back into its natural drape.

Cold water. Gentle heat. A little respect for the craft.
That’s what turns a piece of clothing into a wardrobe staple, season after season.
