The Auntie Sewing Squad

The Auntie Sewing Squad

LA-based performance artist Kristina Wong regularly sews props for her shows.

But when nurses and doctors started reaching out to her for help in making protective equipment, she started sewing masks on her Hello Kitty sewing machine at home.

A few days later, she had women volunteer to help her sew face masks, from their own homes. She calls her growing troupe the "Auntie Sewing Squad".

Kristina's growing grassroots volunteer force has now partnered with Design By Donation whose mission is to make 100,000 FREE, non-medical grade homemade masks for those in need (those on the front line).

We wanted to help their #100facemaskchallenge and donated 1,500+ yards of 100% cotton fabric from our warehouse in DTLA.

We're all in this together.
