XCVI PURCHASES AGAVE
XCVI to Design, Manufacture and Distribute AGAVE
MAY 17, 2016 - Los Angeles based manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer XCVI is the new owner of the AGAVE trademark including AGAVE DENIM. Effective immediately, XCVI LLC will be designing, manufacturing and distributing AGAVE products worldwide.
“We are delighted to welcome AGAVE to XCVI’s distinguished portfolio,” said Alon Zeltzer, XCVI’s chief executive. “With a 20-year history of authentic California design, we share a passion for brand building with an updated approach that will refine this timeless classic.”
XCVI and AGAVE are both major West Coast lifestyle powerhouse brands.
Founded in 2002 by Jeff Shafer in Santa Monica, AGAVE offers luxury quality denim jeans and knit tops, for both men and women. Beyond its premium product, AGAVE is also known to be a compassionate and sustainable brand. “In building the AGAVE brand, it has always been integral for me to manufacture the product in an ethical and sustainable way,” says Shafer, who will remain the brand’s Creative Director. “I am honored to share this vision with the entire team at XCVI.”
Since its founding in 1996, the XCVI brand has continued to offer a California relaxed casual aesthetic for women. With over 20 years of manufacturing experience and success, today XCVI LLC also offers full package design-through-production options to high profile clients, including Ralph Lauren, Guess Inc, Rag and Bone, True Religion, NYDJ, and New Balance, among others. All of XCVI LLC’s factory-direct partners, both domestically and abroad, are WRAP and/or Bureau Veritas certified for conducting business with the highest ethical standards.

]]>A response to global labor violations, The WRAP Certification Program is based on 12 Principles focusing on local law and workplace regulations, generally accepted international workplace standards, and the environment. WRAP is well recognized and has been accepted by many international retailers, brand manufacturers and licensors.
While there has been a significant effort made to bring apparel manufacturing back to Los Angeles (e.g. Mayor Villaraoigosa's involvement in the California STEP program), a series of raids on Downtown Los Angeles garment factories by the U.S. Labor Department found an astonishing number of labor violations.
XCVI's WRAP certification comes in the heels of this slew of labor violations, as a positive shift in the right direction for our city. "Despite market pressures, we pride ourselves of running a successful LA-based business in an ethical way. We couldn't be more proud of this accomplishment. Having it come from WRAP, which is such a highly regarded organization, is the ultimate seal of approval" says Daniela Zeltzer, XCVI's Corporate Communications rep. The overall benefits and goals of the months' long certification process are clear: better working conditions for employees, a program designed to protect the environment, and a sustainable platform to provide for future generations.
