I’d have to say my favorite discovery this month was a wine bar in Laguna Beach called WaterMarc.

We’ve just moved to Orange County, living in LA for so long, I’ve been a bit our of sorts, adjusting to a slower pace and “beach” life. But this place, surrounded by the amazing, locally owned boutiques makes me say WOW. I love living here.

This isn’t about a new service, but an example of good customer service.  I just returned from a trip to Washington, DC.  I went to all the tourist sights and did a little shopping while my husband attended a conference.  You can just imagine how many people anyone employed in the service/tourist industries come in contact with on a daily basis.  And if you love to shop like I do, you can imagine how many sales people I come in contact with so it is always a pleasure when someone stands out in the customer service arena.  I purchased some shoes at the Aerosole store at Union Station.  The person helping me was alone and moderately busy, but kept us all attended to.  When my transaction was finished and she was heading to the next customer with shoe boxes in hand, she stopped, asked me my name, and then told me it had been a pleasure serving me while shaking my hand at the same time.  When she did this, she used my name.  I learned a long time ago, people like to be called by their name and it is so true.  She made me feel very special with that simple gesture - and one that is easily forgotten in today’s busy world.
