Something felt different at WWDMAGIC this year.
While top fashion designers were gathering at Bryant Park for the glamorous NY Fashion Week, lifestyle brand manufacturers were having a rather casual and humble time in Vegas.
Perhaps it was the new venue for the tradeshow that gave us a new kind of open and
warm energy. Or, perhaps it was a new beginning for the fashion market.
Six months ago, MAGIC had a rather different feel: buyers were ambivalent, reps were somber, and the style was flashy (read my blog from last MAGIC here).
This time around felt as though someone had pressed that infamous “Reset” button: Our colleagues were all smiles, buyers were all confidence, and the style was all down-to-earth.
The utility trend we were seeing – functional cargos in earthy colors – is quite complementary to our industry’s newly found practical attitude.
This Fall, forget the high fashion and celebrity world of Bryan Park. Instead, look for styles that are about functionality and wearability from reasonable lifestyle brands, which have YOU in mind.
